Genre Summary.

Pop Music can also be known as 'popular music' and is mostly aimed at a youthful market. I can see this from the music videos that have analysed especially the performing shots throughout the video. We can see from Jessie J's music video 'Who's Laughing Now' which is set in a secondary school that this helps represent younger people, therefore appealing to the audience directly and making them wanting to watch the music video. We see throughout the music video that the performance shots do not change location and remain the same to show consistency throughout the video, helping us know the direct location. Also throughout the music video we can see that Jessie J's outfit remains the same also adding to the consistency throughout the video.

Another music video I analysed the performing shots of Rihanna's 'Don't Stop The Music' which shows Rihanna in a bathroom of a nightclub checking her make up and looking into the mirror. This is typical of the target audience and targets them directly as it's a typical female thing to do. Also this music video performing shots change throughout the video as she moves to different places throughout the nightclub. Though even though it changes I analysed the first performing shots which show her in the same outfit and style throughout the bathroom scene.

Finally my last music video I analysed was Pink 'Perfect' which shows Pink doing her performance shots within a small room, with footage of the rest of the music video playing in the background on the walls. They show a range of shots throughout the performing scenes and similarly to the others she is also wearing the same outfit and staying in the same spot to show consistency throughout the performing scenes.

Overall this shows me that looking at each performing shots we can see the pop genre is quite similar in all the different artists music videos though Rihanna's does change throughout but Jessie J and Pink show a typical example of pop music videos as they have performance shots and a narrative along with showing consistency and having locations that their young audience would recognise.
